Where to Go With Pets on the South Coast

Where to Go With Pets on the South Coast

Whether chasing sticks, exploring the hills, hitting the beach, or enjoying a 'puppycino' on a cafe terrace, the South Coast has a wide range of fun pet-friendly activities and attractions.

  • 1. Dog-friendly beaches

The South Coast is lucky to have a whole host of parks and beaches where dogs can roam free off the leash. Throw balls and chase sticks 'til you drop at the 24-hour off-leash area of Seven Mile Beach at Shoalhaven Heads, or go for a run during the designated off-leash hours at the chilled-out surf hub and cool town of Culburra Beach in Berrys Bay (4pm-8am), the picturesque white sands of Nelsons Beach and Plantation Point in Jervis Bay (4pm-8am), or socialise with other dogs at the popular Narawallee Beach (6pm-8am), just a short drive north of Mollymock.

  • 2. Wining and dining

There's no reason to leave your fur baby behind, or outside, when you want to enjoy a drink or sample some of the South Coast's best cuisine. The legendary Jamberoo Pub is a true blue Aussie institution from a bygone era, and it allows dogs not only in the outdoor beer garden but also inside, right at the bar! Just Delicious cafe is a great place to relax and rejuvenate after a run around in Berry, with a large outdoor shaded verandah, water bowls for dogs, and even a safe-to-drink 'puppycino' on the menu. The South Coast's wine country isn't off limits to canines, either: Cupitt's Winery welcomes dogs with open arms and offers a huge play area and spectacular views, while world-class vineyard Cambewarra Estate even lets you bring your dog for cellar door tastings.

  • 3. Visit markets

As well as all the beautiful natural scenery and nature walks to explore along the South Coast, there's more than a handful of quirky, crafty towns worth a dog-friendly visit. The twice-monthly Uladulla Harbour Markets at the wharf in Uladulla have made this picturesque South Coast seaside town something of a destination for dog owners in the area, who are welcome to bring their dogs to browse the stalls or play in the park. The dog-friendly Kiama Farmer's Market taking place every Wednesday at Coronation Park, just off Surf Beach, offers a chance to taste local cheeses, wines, fresh fruits and veggies, not to mention visit Kiama's numerous local art galleries and craft shops.
