One option is to take a V/Line bus service from Southern Cross Station as far as Fish Creek, about 20km from the entrance to Wilsons Promontory National Park. It's about a 200km drive from Melbourne to Wilsons Promontory on major highway routes. To get there, simply follow the Monash Freeway (M1) out of the city onto the South Gippsland Highway (A440). Follow this past Lang Lang until the turnoff to Korumburra, then turn right after Meeniyan onto Meeniyan-Promontory Road (C444) through Fish Creek to Yanakie. Yanakie is just a few kilometres from the entrance of the national park, with many holiday rentals located nearby.

The Rhythm Cafe & Restaurant is just the place to dig into duck spring rolls and plates of delicious Indian dishes like chicken biriyani and samosas. The garlic and herb bread is also a favourite here.

The Cafe Kranen O'Neill Bar & Grill serves a really tasty pizza selection for vegetarians, especially the pumpkin flavoured slices. The eatery also rustles up delicious carbonara pasta and calamari.

The shallow Tidal River is nature’s own playground for children. The flat sandy beach and boulder edging that surround the river make the whole place a superb place for children to play. Families also have a lovely time exploring the caves that line the river.
