Uluwatu Accommodation

Uluwatu accommodation is very varied. You can choose to stay in the traditional Joglo, a semi-open traditional wooden home, originating from the nearby island of Java, or rent a stunning modern chic villa overlooking the sea at the edge of the cliff.

Dig your toes in the sand and pick the fresh grilled seafood catch of the day by Bingin Beach. Food is usually quite spicy as Indonesians eat fish with ‘sambal matah’ consisting of a mix of onions, shallots and chilli.

While you are in Bali, make sure to taste the national dish Nasi Goreng, a fried rice delicacy mixed with vegetables and topped with a fried egg.

The Pura Luhur Uluwatu is one of the seven sea temples of Bali dedicated to the sea gods. Built at the edge of the cliff on a 70 metres high rock, the temple offers stunning views over the sea. The temple is inhabited by monkeys who are notorious for their skills in snatching bananas out of visitors’ hands.

Visitors are invited daily to admire the Kecak (traditional dance performance based on the Hinduism tale of Ramayana) performed at sunset.

White sand beaches and a surfers' paradise

The peninsula of Bali is home to international beach clubs such as the famous Omnia hosting international DJs. Visitors looking for a relaxing day by the beach will love the Sundays’ Beach Club nested in the cliff and its white sand beach which is unveiled in the afternoon by the low tide.

Uluwatu is also known for its challenging waves, internationally recognised by surfers to be some of the most difficult and rewarding in the world. The island hosts regularly international surf competitions which are a popular attraction for locals, expats and visitors.
