Bali Kite Festival

Playing with kites is one the favourite activities of Balinese children and it is very common to spot kites flying gracefully in the sky of Bali during the dry season. Once a year this passion turns unto a festival where competitors will rival of creativity to fly the most impressive kite and outshine their contenders at Padang Galak.

Some of the flying engine can be up to 10 meters long and require several adults to manoeuvre! The festival is part of the island ancestral traditions, and gamelan musicians play through the day to inspire the participants.
