Getting to Your Mollymook Accommodation

The closest airport to Mollymook is Moruya Airport, a little over 80km away, with direct flights to and from Sydney. From the airport, you can reach your accommodation in Mollymook by hiring a car or taking a combination of taxis and the local bus, which will take a bit more than an hour.

Driving to Mollymook from Sydney takes around three hours, and it's a two and a half hour drive from Canberra. A combination of trains and buses will get you from Sydney's central station to Mollymook, though this will take at least six hours.

What to eat on your Mollymook holiday

Mollymook isn’t short of fantastic places to grab a bite to eat. You’ll find a variety of local and independent eateries within the town, many of which specialise in fresh, locally-sourced seafood. Tuck into oysters, lobsters or yellow fin tuna, all of which have gone from sea to plate in a matter of hours.

If you’re looking for somewhere distinctly upmarket, try Rick Stein’s at Bannisters. This harbour-side restaurant plates up a wide range of mouthwatering seafood dishes, all while offering you a breath-taking view out over the sea. Dining here is a treat for all of your senses, and the quality of the food is assured. For something more casual, the Saltwater Grill serves up large portions with an ocean view.

Uncover Mollymook's past on a fossil walk

For an experience that is as exciting as it is educational, try the Gondwana Coast Fossil Walk. This two-hour guided walk takes you along a fossil-laden stretch of coast where you’ll be able to see bones, teeth, ammonites and more. Kids will love hunting out the hidden treasures, and learning about how they got there in the first place!

The Fossil Walk is weather dependent, and is run to coincide with the tides. This means that it doesn’t necessarily run every day of the year. Make sure to check that tours are running on the day of your visit before heading down. You’ll find information about the tours at the Visitor Centre in town.

What to do at night in Mollymook

Mollymook may look like a sleepy seaside town during the day, but there’s plenty to do even after you’ve watched the sun sink below the horizon. As well as a scattering of pubs and bistros, there are also several rooftop bars and grills. Here you can dance, drink and party the night away under the stars.

If you fancy a more traditional night out, you have only to head ten minutes out of town to Ulladulla or Milton. Here you’ll find a selection of bars, pubs and clubs to suit any taste and any budget, along with plenty of places to grab a bite to eat before you hit the town.

Golfing and Outdoor Sports in Mollymook

The area has two gorgeous golf courses, which are both maintained by the Mollymook Golf Course. The picturesque Championship Hilltop has an 18-hole course located amid a spectacular setting of indigenous trees and creeks. Enjoy golf by the ocean at the 9-hole Beachside Course, which is a favourite with social golfers. It’s located near Mollymook Beach’s southern tip. The clubhouse here, called Saltwater Grill, is a lovely place to have lunch or dinner while admiring the panoramic coastal views.

Colliers Beach near Mollymook is a favourite with both locals and visitors for snorkelling. The shallow tidal rock pool called Bogey Hole on Mollymook Beach is also a preferred snorkelling area.

Depending on when you visit you may be lucky enough to catch one of the Mollymook Markets. These bustling events take place only on the fifth Sunday of any given month – meaning that there are usually just four each year! Despite their scarcity, markets are well-attended. Pretty much everyone in town usually turns up to celebrate.

If you happen to be in town for a market, expect more than a hundred different stalls selling everything from arts and crafts, to beautiful vintage jewellery and delicious food and drink. There’s even a petting zoo to keep the kids entertained while you shop! The markets are a staple of Mollymook life, and the ideal place to acquire some gorgeous souvenirs.
