Holidays with kids in Broadbeach

A plethora of spacious holiday accommodation, a wide sandy beach, numerous casual dining options, and a walkable town centre make Broadbeach a terrific destination for families. Year-round arts and crafts markets, held on the first and third Sundays of the month in Kurrawa Park, offer everything from local fruit to toys to jewellery—there's something for everyone in your family to shop for. In neighbouring Pratten Park, you'll find soccer fields and playgrounds, great for kids who need to stretch their legs.

Speaking of playgrounds, pack a picnic and head to the riverside Cascade Gardens. This family favourite offers barbecue spots, a huge playground, and ample space for little ones to run around. You can also hike through rainforest and visit an enclosed water bird sanctuary. Just south of Broadbeach you'll hit Mermaid Beach, where Putt Putt Golf offers not one but three 18 hole mini-golf courses.

Exploring around Broadbeach

While this laid-back suburban oasis and neighbouring city of Gold Coast offer much to do for holidaymakers, if you hop in a rental car and venture outward you'llbe spoilt for choice. Drive an hour inland to the rainforests of Lamington National Park, where you can hike to waterfalls, spot endangered birds, and see some of the oldest conifers in Australia. Up the coast, you'll find South Stradbroke Island Nature Park. This is a beautiful destination for both white sand beaches and wildlife spotting. Popular for campers and hikers, South Stradbroke Island is also home to a huge population of wallabies.

Of course, it wouldn't be an Australian holiday without some surfing. Just a ten-minute drive north, you'll find yourself at the aptly named Surfers Paradise Beach. Even if you're not ready to paddle out on a board, you can still enjoy this scenic, iconic beach, as well as the suburb's bustling, high-rise filled commercial centre.

Whether you're in town for New Year's Eve and want to enjoy fireworks at the beach, or you've booked a holiday rental for the summer and are looking to let loose with live music, Broadbeach will keep you entertained.

Totally free and staged across town, Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival lets you take in performances from international and local blues musicians alike. During the first week of April, you can get into the Aussie spirit as a spectator at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships. And in early October every year, a one-day craft beer festival provides tipples for both visiting and local brew-lovers, with over 150 regional breweries represented. You can also check out what's on at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre during your visit; some events hosted here are open to the public.
